Retention blows I turned down an offer I got for the call center I work for. Id rather make hourly and fix peoples technical problems than offer some idiot customer a discount package to get their business back.Retention agents are lamo's who don understand the technical aspects of why the customer's service is not working. Then we as technical agents have to deal with these 'saved' customers and tell them that their shitty service is goint to continue.LOL

The inherent problem with Windows is the amount of work you'll have to do to install Squid (Which you can get at http://www.serassio.it/SquidNT.htm), and then having to install Perl (which is covered at http://perl.about.com/od/gettingstartedwithperl/ss/installperlwin.htm).

Getting the two to talk to each other, is beyond my patience.

My true suggestion would be to install Virtualbox (http://www.virtualbox.org/) on your system, then install Ubuntu (http://www.ubuntu.com/) under a Virtual Machine, and then install squid on that.

Comment on Why isn’t Hotel and Airport Internet Access free? by Andy Abramson

Thanks for the shout out and the education on how hotels work their Internet access deals. It jives with how they handle TV and phone service for the most part.

I don't beleive though that I suggested that bandwidth or access should be free? Quite the opposite. I pay for my hotspot access via Boingo, T-Mobile in the USA with monthly accounts. I want to pay for my access, just like I pay for a bed, a shower and towels. So when I'm in a hotel I pay for the access too. And there's the rub. I'm paying and getting the same QoS as a free hotspot would be required to offer.. NONE.

At the hotels I stay at, all quality, AAA rated brands of Starwood, Hilton, Accor, Marriott, etc. I expect the experience to be the same. But it's not. The issue though is where the brands strive for consistency on check in/check out experience, a consistent in the room experience like the Heavenly Bed from Westin, etc., they sadly have not taken the same approach with Internet access.

Thanks again for the insight...it was most, appreciated. I just wanted to clarify my point.
