Stopped by the local asian grocery store yesterday, mainly to pick up some new candy, but also to find some dried rice cakes for inclusion in my udon.
I discovered a new pocky: Kurogo Pocky.

I’ve had the Black Sesame pocky before, but this was over-the-top black ingredients. The names on the label translate to:
Kuromatsunomi: Black Pine Nuts
Kurogome: Black Rice
Kuromame: Black Soy Beans
Kurogoma: Black Sesame Seeds
Kurokarin: Black Currant
Of course, all these mixed into a chocolate-like blend and dunked in by the standard pocky stick, with the occasional whole black sesame seed in the bite.
What does it taste like? It tastes like if you put sesame oil in with normal pocky. I couldn’t taste anything but the stick and the black sesame; sesame in itself is overwhelming. But it’s not a sweet taste; it’s slightly salty, which can be a welcome change from standard pocky.
They have it over at Jlist.com if you’re interested in trying it out for yourselves.
